Devils Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Walleye Fishing Tournament

Dear Angler,   This year marks the 35th year of the Devils Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Walleye Fishing Tournament and it’s sure to be one of the best on record. With the 35th year, comes some change. Please keep in mind, the changes listed below are for this year’s tournament only. We may implement some of the changes in the future, but will look for your feedback after the this year’s tournament.

Devils Lake will again be bringing back the Master Walleye Circuit. Because of scheduling conflicts, as well as road construction concerns, the tournament committee has decided to run both tournaments consecutively. The dates for both the MWC and the Chamber Tournament will be Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25; using Sunday the 26th of June as an optional fishing day due to inclement weather. All MWC Tournament rules and applications will be the same and if you are interested in fishing in this tournament as well as the Chamber Tournament, please visit for more information.

During the Chamber Tournament, we will still have the optional prizes for largest perch, white bass and northern. This year, you will be able to bring 7 walleye back and weigh your 5 largest fish. We will also have our early bird sponsors. Make sure to turn in your application by March 31, 2011 for your chance to win your tournament application fee back. Five winners will be selected. If you have fished the Chamber Tournament in years past, you may turn in your application before the March 31, 2011 date. Anyone that is fishing the MWC tournament that has not previously fished the Chamber Fishing Tournament cannot submit the Chamber Tournament application until after April 1, 2011. The tournament will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, taking the first 150 teams.

The steak fry will be moved to Saturday evening, immediately following the weigh-in to celebrate the event; instead of at the rules meeting. All tournament events will be held at Graham’s Island State Park. We will welcome back local pro-angler Johnnie Candle as our Tournament Director again this year.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call Johnnie Candle or Suzie Baisch with any questions or concerns. We will be happy to visit with you. You can reach Johnnie at 701.371.9431 and Suzie by calling the Chamber office at 701.662.4903. We look forward to receiving your applications. Please make sure to book your accommodations as soon as possible. You can find a list of options at (under the tourism tab).
